New Wrapping Technology in Harpoon

Whilst Harpoon is extremely good at coping with dirty CAD data, there are some cases when a wrapping technology combined with Harpoon would make the whole meshing job easier.

One problem in meshing is the lack of data or data containing large holes. Harpoon can be used to wrap the surface to fill these holes. The wrapped surface may then be used within Harpoon to give the desired volume mesh

This new addition to Harpoon’s ever growing feature set  builds the philosophy of fast, automatic meshing by allowing integration of the wrapping feature along with full grid generation into a scripted process which can provide massive time savings for optimization studies.

The new wrapper is very quick. Tests using between 50,000 and 250,000 triangles were done comparing Harpoon's wrapper with another commercial wrapping code. The results are shown in the table below

The wrapper can be used to cover over holes prior to volume meshing. Figures 1a and 1b show an example of this

The wrapper can also be used to keep detailed information. Figures 2a and 2b demonstrate this
